Before you start using your IPB forum, you need to go through the installation process which is pretty simple even for a person who does not know coding and stuff.

Pre-installation Steps/Checks

Step 1: Database setup
You will have to create a MySQL Database and assign a MySQL User with full privileges to it (new or existing user).

To do this, go to your server’s control panel (cPanel, Kloxo etc) and search for MySQL Databases. I will not explain this step in detail as it is very easy, maybe I will detail the steps in another post in future.

Step 2: Upload Files

You may uncompress the distribution file of the software on your local computer and upload all the files from the upload folder in the directory where you would like the board to be installed OR upload the uncompressed files of the software through FTP to the location/directory you want the Board to be installed.

For example: If you want the board to be in a sub-domain like – tutfreak.com/forum you will have to create a folder named “forum” in the main directory and upload all the files in this sub-directory.
