Samsung Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates..

Unless you happen to be in ownership of a newish Google Nexus device, the point at which a new Android release will reach your particular device is dependent on a series of variables. But while the respective interventions of both carrier and OEM can often throw a spanner in the works, Samsung is usually fairly efficient with regards to turnaround, and has today released a list of devices that will see the very latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. Check below to discover if your Samsung smartphone or tablet has made the cut.

All told, the list contains very few surprises. The Galaxy Note 3, which only hit the retail market back in September, is joined by the preceding Galaxy Note 2 among a total of 14 devices that will benefit from Android 4.4.2.

The Galaxy S4 is, naturally, also included, and what with it being the current flagship and all, this is hardly a great surprise. Meanwhile, a number of its subsequent spin-off releases, such as the downsized Galaxy S4 Mini, ruggedized Galaxy S4 Active and the camera-centric Galaxy S4 Zoom will also be the grateful recipients of Android 4.4.2, which begins rolling out as of today.

The Galaxy S3, despite feeling somewhat antiquated with the Galaxy S5 just around the corner, is also being carried through this latest update alongside the pocket-friendly Galaxy S3 Mini.

Completing the round-up is the larger-than-life Galaxy Mega, the Galaxy Light, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 and the Galaxy Note 10.1 – encompassing both the original model and the recent refresh for 2014.

Even though the official OTA update cycle begins today, Samsung hasn’t presented us with any sort of roadmap or precise details on the order in which its range of gadgets will be fed this tasty new software release.

The complete list of devices getting the update is as follows:

Galaxy Note 3
Galaxy Note 2
Galaxy S4
Galaxy S4 Mini
Galaxy S4 Active
Galaxy S4 Zoom
Galaxy S3
Galaxy S3 Mini
Galaxy Mega (all versions)
Galaxy Light
Galaxy Note 8.0
Galaxy Tab 3
Galaxy Note 10.1 (original and 2014 edition both)

We would, however, anticipate that the higher-spec, more popular devices will be catered to first, so if you don’t see any activity as far as an update is concerned, just sit tight – it’s on the way.

The update provides a number of key enhancements, including Location Menu, upgraded Google Mobile Service and better messaging capabilities, so if you do get a chance to grab Android 4.4.2, be sure to seize upon the opportunity with both hands.
